How to build traffic at your website?

Once your website is up and running, it's time to start promoting your website address to generate traffic. The more people that visit your website the better chance you have of someone contacting you or ordering your product/service. Here are 5 things that you can do to start your website out right:

1. Make your site a real resource. For years agencies have been telling clients that they have to limit the amount of words in their advertising to make it effective. But with your web site just the opposite is true! This is the one time to go ahead and be wordy. People don't want to get the same sales info they have already seen on your company. They have come to your web site to learn. Give additional information on related topics to your product. Include technical data, reference materials and more. The more you make your site a resource, the more people to will want to visit, and return.

2. Registered your site with search engines and directories. Yahoo, Excite, etc. are search engines and directories where people can find your site if they are searching for related topics. Be sure to have META Tags installed in your home page before you register with search engines. See Search Engines for more information on META Tags and on where to register with search engines and directories.

3. Get your site linked to industry related sites. Check with your trade publications, associations, etc. and find out if they have a website and how to have them link your site to their site. Some will be free, and some may charge.

4. Make sure your all your advertising features your web site address Include your web address (www.yourcompany.com): in all your promotion: phone book listings, directories, magazine/print ads, tv, other advertising.

5. Start adding your web address to all your printed material. You can have stickers made to put on all your existing material. As you correspond throughout the year, you will also be letting your web address be known. Include your web address (domain name ie:www.yourcompany.com) and your email address (ie: you@yourcompany.com) on your business cards, letterhead, brochures, catalogs, plus shipping labels, boxes, etc.

With all these resources working together, your site will build more traffic everyday. Thousands of people are gaining internet access daily. The web site you have started today, could be the single most important communication tool for your business in the very near future.
