Disk Storage Space Requirements

The amount of disk storage for each website varies depending on the number of pages and the content of each page. The size of each html page and accompanying graphics also effects the time it takes to download and view your web page. Size requirements include:

HTML Pages
The actual html document that forms your webpage is usually small in size. The html document for this page you are now viewing is only 15k. Your page can have as much text as you want. Your page can scroll down indefinitely. However, if your website has allot of text it may be better to divide your info into categories. Breaking up your information can improve loading time provide manageable amount of text on a web browser.

Graphics
Photos, logos, buttons, backgrounds and other graphics are usually what takes the most amount of space.

One of our high-quality 16 page sites with text, photos and graphics, is only about 1.4 megabytes.

Internet Access
TACWeb is not an Internet Access Provider. This means, although we are connected to the Internet and provide hosting services for your web site, we do not offer "dial-up" access to the Internet (for "surfing" the net). Almost every communications company is now offering this type of service. You can get Internet access through AT&T, MCI, many local providers and hundreds of providers nationwide. TAC can recommend providers and help set up Internet access for your company. By specializing in hosting only, TAC doesn't have thousands of "dial up" customers going out onto the net through the same connection that serves your website on, providing a more reliable and secure environment to host your website. This also means that you can switch your Internet Provider any time you want without affecting your website or email address.

SSI (Server Side Includes)
SSI (Server Side Includes) allow you to use special commands in your HTML pages to display dynamic information to browsers and simplify the structure of your site. For example, you can display the current date and time, insert a standard header file into several different pages, show a counter displaying the number a times a certain page has been accessed, create a link to the referring page, execute CGIs and display the output, show or hide content based on a wide range of criteria, and more. All this, just by adding some SSI commands to your HTML pages.

Note: most of these same features we have replaced using MGI, see our MGI information.

SSL Secure Web Pages
SSL (Secure Socket Layer) allows your customer to submit information, like credit card numbers or other confidential information, using a "Secure Form". All information submitted on the form is encrypted and sent back to the server securely.
